Weeks 5-7
Weeks 5-7
A special thanks to all parents for their quick response in bringing in all permission forms, notes and family photos.
Literacy
We are learning to write our name, to hold our pencil correctly and to push down with strength. Please continue with practising at home on their placemats that were given out during the Parent information session. These are written in the font that Wattle Grove follows.
Over these next three weeks the students will be learning one initial letter sound per week. They are as follows: Pp, Nn, Ii.
We are looking forward to the children’s ‘Pp’ dress up day Thursday the 11th of March.
Letter formation songs
Pig starts with Pp - Pp – Pp
Long line down back to the top, close with a bump to make an uppercase P
Long line down, back to the top, bump and kick to make lowercase p

Try the website www.starfall.com for learning the initial alphabet sounds.
Numeracy – We are learning to identify the written numerals 4 and 5, and reviewing all numerals 1-5. By matching concrete objects using one to one correspondence. The students are also learning to touch count each object only once when counting “How many?” We are also learning to recognise 2D shapes and colours.
Please remember to return-
Brain books every Monday
Library books and bags every Thursday
Canteen days are Wednesday and Thursday
Assembly
The next Junior Assembly will be held on Friday the 19th March. A couple of students from each Kindy group will receive Merit Awards at these assemblies, throughout the year. Parents of these children will be notified and are encouraged to attend, especially if it is not their rostered Kindy day. Students wear school uniform and sit with their class.
